Intro To DJing

Level 101  is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to learn to DJ.  Our 1 on 1 instruction will teach you the fundamentals of mixing, blending.  No matter your music tastes or commitment level, Level 100 will teach you the fundamentals to get started.

 

You will learn:

• DJ History

• Ins & outs of equipment (turntables, mixers, speakers, etc.)

• Timing (how to count beats)  

• Cueing songs and why they are important

• Dropping songs  On-The-One

• Switching songs

• Basic blending

• Come Up with a DJ Name!

DJ 101 ( Sharpen Skills)

Blending/Mixing

Now that you have learned the fundamentals from Level 100, you will learn to mix between different genres of music and get a better understanding of when and how to use transitions.  At the end of the 4 week session, you will perform a 4-song set that will showcase your skills.

You will learn:

• Blending songs

• Blending instrumentals and songs

• Different transitions

• Basic Scratches

• How to count bars

• Phrase mixing and the conversation between two songs

• Construct and perform a 4 song mix

Intro to Scratching

We will focus on:

• Scratching fundamentals

• Scratching for transitions

• Scratching for blends 

• Freestyle scratching 

• Final day is the test day !
